Are you frustrated by the 50 minute session? Do you feel like you’re just getting started and then it’s time to go? Do you feel like you have so much to work on that you’re going to be in therapy for years to see the results you want?
Maybe you have already been in therapy for months or years with little movement towards your goals. Maybe you’ve tried a couple different therapists or approaches, but nothing seems to click. You’ve expressed feelings and gained insight into your worries, but it’s not enough. You’re still stuck in the same mental, emotional, and relationship patterns. You’re repeating the same cycles you are determined to break.
You’ve tried the self-help route, going down the YouTube rabbit hole to see what you can glean from free content. There’s some good stuff there, yet it’s still not enough. You’ve cried and prayed for a change. Where is God in all of this?
To get different results, you have to be willing to do something different, something a little uncomfortable.
How about going to therapy for a day instead of an hour?
Processing negative life experiences or trauma with EMDR doesn’t require time in between sessions. In a longer session, you are able to give your brain the time and space to loosen what is physiologically and emotionally stuck. Things will come to the surface that you haven’t thought about in a long time or didn’t realize were relevant to today.
A longer session allows you to get to the root of your issues. The thread that has woven itself through your life is much easier to see when we don’t have to stop and start the work.
If therapy or EMDR hasn’t worked for you before, you can still achieve the results you are looking for in intensive therapy.
Why EMDR therapy?
If you’re tired of telling your life story in therapy, walking out feeling worse than when you walked in, EMDR is for you! EMDR therapy works at a brain level to align your mind, emotions, and body sensations. By the end, your mind and body will feel calmer.
If you have memories that haunt you, EMDR therapy will help you process these memories into the long term storage area of the brain, so they don’t continue to come back up as an intrusive memory or flashbacks. Past clients have told me they thought they would never be able to feel better about certain memories, but they did after EMDR therapy. You can remember what happened to you without being overwhelmed by it.
